This hymn is arranged from a theme in the 3rd movement of Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony no. 3, "Scottish.”

The words are an adaptation of Isaiah 53, focusing on Christ's sufferings and atoning sacrifice for each of us. It is a text set artistically by many great composers, but which I felt would be meaningful for accessible and ongoing choral use.
