About
The music of this hymn is set to a theme from Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, movement 4.
Music arranged by Robert W. Davis.
The text is an adaptation of several scriptures about finding courage, spiritual valiance, and trust, which allow us to prevail over mortal trials through God’s watchful care: Philippians 4:13, Doctrine and Covenants 128:22, Moroni 8:16, and Deuteronomy 31:6.
In the first verse God lovingly encourages each of us to take courage, be of good cheer, and trust in His care. In the 2nd and 3rd verses we respond, indicating a commitment to press on in His cause, overcome fear with love, draw near to Him in prayer, and do all things through the strength of Christ.
Text by Robert W. Davis.
